Daily Picks Jan 13: Rangers, Flyers Best Bets

We have a great set of NHL picks and parlays for Jan 13 so let’s get into it. The Calgary Flames are looking to take out the Montreal Canadiens tonight in an inter-divisional matchup between two teams that have been performing well this season.

Jan 13 Picks – Flames vs Canadiens

The Flames are fourth in the Pacific, while the Canadiens, who just defeated the Ottawa Senators, are sixth in the Atlantic.  This game should be a close contest, with both teams continuously putting up solid efforts this season.  The last time these two teams met was in December with a Montreal win, and this could see a repeat show.

The Flames are coming off a win over the Edmonton Oilers this weekend that saw Oilers started Zack Kassian facing possible disciplinary action for throwing punches against Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk.  Most would say that on-ice skirmishes are part of the game, but Kassian took things a little too far and Tkachuk is going to be more protective tonight.

By some, he was seen as the aggressor in the melee, but the NHL apparently doesn’t agree.  As the forward looks to put the incident behind him, he’s going to struggle a little tonight and the Flames are only slightly favored to win.  The moneyline sits at -110 and this is going to be a very tight game.

Rangers vs Islanders

A standing rivalry will play out tonight when two New York teams face off in Madison Square Garden.  The New York Rangers are going up against the New York Islanders, and they’re set up nicely for a win.  The Rangers have a lot of strong protection at the net and are coming off a strong performance against the Boston Bruins, inarguably one of the best teams in the league.  Although they lost, the fact that the forced the Bruins into overtime says a lot about their talent.

Alexandar Georgiev will be in the net tonight and his .967 save average, along with a break as the Rangers continue to rotate three men at goalie, will give the team a slight advantage.  This could be an underdog win, as the Islanders are favorites at -115, but the Rangers are ready for their rivals.  At +1.5 (-240) on the puckline, the Rangers are worth a little extra juice.

Picks Jan 13 – Flyers vs Bruins

The Bruins are off to Philadelphia for a contest against the Flyers and are hoping they can continue their run.  They’re 27-8-11 on the season and continue to impress every chance they get.  They have won their past three games, but lost three prior to that, and are hoping they can add a fourth victory on the road.

It won’t be an easy feat.  The Flyers are 14-3-4 at home, thanks mostly to goalie Carter Hart.  He didn’t have a great showing against the Tampa Bay Lightning this past Saturday, even though he only allowed one goal on 28 shots, and his team ultimately lost the game.  The Boston offense is going to be taking more shots tonight and are looking at a -131 moneyline for the win.  The Under, against a 5.5 score, is a good target.  The Bruins may have a strong offense, but the Flyers are going to help keep them in check.

Capitals vs Hurricanes

The Washington Capitals will host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight and the Canes won’t make things easy.  They’ve won two games in a row and are now feeling a little more confident, but they have had difficulty against teams in the Metropolitan Division.  They’ve only won two games out of 11 when facing Metro rivals, but the Caps aren’t exactly outstanding in divisional games, either.

The Caps are the favorite, at -135, but this is another game that could see the underdog win.  The Canes are +122 with goalie Petr Mrazek coming off a shutout against the Arizona Coyotes last Friday.  He’s going to stay strong and improve his .905 save percentage.  The Under 6.5 (-139) is a good place to park some extra online gambling money, especially with the Canes coming off two straight shutouts and the Caps also keeping things down to around two goals a game.

That’s our picks for Jan 13, a great set of match-ups, stay lucky.
