Vik’s Picks Feb 26! Vik Looks To Rebound With Hokies, Celtics

I’m going to write a daily piece that highlights my favorite daily picks for Feb 26 on the sports slate.

Yesterday was my first clunker of the season, as I went 0-3. While every day is a new opportunity and I don’t want to get sucked into the past, I think it’s worth reviewing things each day. This will help us get better as we move forward. So, here goes:

I bet:

– Pelicans +8 (loss) – I don’t know what was worse, Zion’s two missed FTs with 22 seconds left, or the Pelicans fouling with 19 secs to go down 8. An L is an L, but this one hurts.

– Thunder – 7 (loss) Coby White and Zach LaVine went off in the second half of last night’s game. Have to tip your cap to them.

– Texas A & M +7 (loss) – This one also came down to the wire, as TAM lost by 9. UK was in control all game long, but the Aggis had so many chances.

Now, onto today’s card. We have a fun sports betting card today that includes nine-NBA games and a ton of college basketball games.

We did the research for you so, so here are our three favorite bets for today:

Vik’s Picks Feb 26

Virginia at Virginia Tech +3

This in-state rivalry game should be a fun one.

The public sees Virginia crushing VT at home in their last matchup, so they are backing the Cavaliers. But, I like the dog, as this is a good situational spot for the Hokies tonight.

Virginia plays Duke on Saturday, so this could be a look-ahead spot for them. Also, as noted above, the public is on Virginia, but the sharps are on VT. The line is heading down in most books and I would not be surprised to see it hit 2 by tip-off.

Matchup wise, the way to beat the pack line defense of Virginia is to be able to hit the 3-ball. VT is a good shooting team (66th in the nation), just streaky. They shot just 17% from deep against Virginia in their first meeting. Look for a positive regression tonight, especially with them playing at home. They also do not turnover the ball, which will be important vs. a team like Virginia, where every possession is valuable.

This should be a fun game, and I see VT as a live dog, so I will take the points. Might even be worth a sprinkle on the moneyline if you are feeling lucky.

Georgetown at Marquette -8

This line has shot up from an opening line of MU -6. Marquette comes into this game losers of three straight and desperate for a win. But, two of the three losses Marquette suffered were at the hands of really good teams in No. 12 Villanova and No. 10 Creighton.

The Golden Eagles play at home tonight, where they have been really good, posting a 12-2 record. They also get a banged up Hoyas team in town, as their center Omer Yurtseve and guard Mac McClung are both dealing with injuries. MU struggles against good big guys and McClung is instant offense. If either or both are out for GT tonight, that will be a huge advantage for Marquette.

GT comes into this game off back-to-back losses and have lost five of their seven Big East road games. Unfortunately they are just short-handed, as there is a real chance that they suit up only six scholarship players tonight.

MU has an explosive offense, headed by Markus Howard. They rank 16 in 3% and 18th in FTA. Both of those will be on display tonight vs this injury plagued GT team. I am on the side of desperation tonight, as I see a blowout in the making by MU.

Boston Celtics +5 at Utah Jazz

The Celtics have been playing great ball lately, as they are 8-2 over their last ten games. They’ve been led by Jayson Tatum, who is dropping 30PPG over that span.

Tonight they face a Jazz team that is in a little bit of a funk, as they’ve lost three straight. They are even switching up their lineup by benching Mike Conley.

This is a good spot for the Celtics, who seem to thrive in these back-to-back situations. Since Brad Stevens took over, he is 43-19 ATS on the second night of a back-to-back as a dog. They seem to get up for these types of games and while I love Donovan Mitchell, Tatum is the hottest guy in the league right now.

I consider the Celtics live dogs so getting 5 tonight definitely interests me. This one should be a low-scoring, grind it out kind of good one all the way through, so grab the points and get your popcorn ready.

Well, that is all folks for our picks for Feb 26. Good luck on today’s wagers!
