Saints-Vikings II Highlights NFL Wild Card Weekend

Saints-Vikings II Highlights NFL Wild Card Weekend

Unfortunately, the NFL regular season is over.  This means that the postseason is now underway, which ultimately means that there is only about one month left of football.  Fans will just have to make do with the little action that remains and make the best of the situation.  Fortunately, there is still some interesting ball to be played and this weekend’s NFL Wild Card lineup provides some highlights to be excited about.

The NFL Wild Card Weekend Highlights

Bills vs Texans

The Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans will play the first of two Saturday Wild Card games tomorrow.  Both teams are 10-6 and the Texans are only one spot ahead of the Bills in the AFC.  As far as the weekend action goes, this should prove to be one of the best games, given that they’re both so evenly matched.  On offense and defense, the two teams have repeatedly shown bursts of surprising energy this season and that will carry over as they try to score a position further up the bracket.

If the Bills can win, it will be the first playoff victory since 1995.  If the Texans pull off the victory, it will be their fourth postseason win since 2011.  It’s almost even-money on who will win, but the Texans have home field advantage and a slight edge at 2.5 points.  The Over-Under is at 43.5 and this game is worth a few extra bucks on the Over, with both teams not holding anything back as they look for the victory.

Patriots vs Titans

The second Saturday game finds the New England Patriots hosting the Tennessee Titans.  This could prove to be another game that comes down to the wire, with the Titans repeatedly showing strong skills on the gridiron.  The Pats may have a better record, at 12-4 to 9-7, but they also just took a beating at the hands of the Miami Dolphins, which says a lot about their stamina.

Mother Nature is expected to throw some inclement weather on the game tomorrow, which could work to Tennessee’s advantage.  It would force New England to spend more time running the ball, which the Titans are good at stopping.  Tennessee also has its secret weapon, running back Derrick Henry, who is highly capable in any type of weather.  Plus, today’s Tom Brady is not the Tom Brady of before.  The Titans, at +5, are going to surprise everyone and pick up an underdog’s victory.

Saints vs Vikings

It’s déjà vu time on Sunday as the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings make a repeat performance of their last playoff meeting in 2018.  However, unlike that contest, this one is going to have a drastically different outcome.

On January 14, 2018, the Vikings stopped the Saints from advancing in the postseason with a 29-24 victory on Stefon Diggs’ miracle touchdown.  That’s not going to happen this year, as the Saints are stronger than ever.  Drew Brees is having a banner year, setting records despite having mid-season surgery on his throwing hand.  The Saints have scored at least 34 points in six of their last seven games and are positive on both offense and defense.  The Vikings are hurting, emotionally and physically, and are not going to be able to stop the Saints’ offense.  New Orleans easily takes the win and covers the 7.5 spread.

Eagles vs Seahawks

Bringing things to a close this weekend will be the matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seattle Seahawks.  Neither team has been consistent this season, unless consist inconsistency can be considered consistent, and Sunday’s game is going to more of the same.

The Seahawks have had to dig deep into their roster after suffering a number of injuries during their most recent loss against the San Francisco 49ers.  The only good news for Seattle going into Sunday’s game is that the Eagles also lost a lot of key players during their Week 17 game against the New York Giants, so the two are almost even.  Almost, though, as the Eagles are still a slightly tougher squad.  This is going to help them, even though the Seahawks are favored, take the victory in what should be an extremely tight game.  The NFL spreads sit at 1.5 and the Eagles moneyline at 105.  A nice payday awaits.

That concludes our highlights for the NFL Wild Card weekend, check back tomorrow for more picks and parlays from the team at Sports Intel.
