There’s always something going on in the NFL, both on and off the field.  Either players are getting called out for their antics, coaches are getting reprimanded or teams are announcing moves.  The soap opera drama continues this week and includes something completely different.  One team might be considering a permanent relocation – to the other side of the Atlantic.

The word around the league is that all the years teams have been pond-hopping to London may have finally paid off.  The LA Chargers could become the first NFL team to permanently call London home.  The Chargers are supposed to move into a new $4.5-billion stadium in LA, but has reportedly said that it would not turn down a move to the UK if the NFL were to approach them with a lucrative offer.  Apparently, they just don’t have the local attention to keep fans happy in the City of Angels.

The New York Jets have not had the year they expected.  Running back Le’Veon Bell hasn’t lived up to standards, partly due to a knee injury, and the Jets even fell to the Miami Dolphins this past weekend – the first victory for the team all season.  In an effort to spruce up its offense, the Jets have brought in Josh Adams, another running back, taking him to active duty from its practice squad.  There has been talk that Bell could be headed out the door, but the Jets deny everything.  They say that it’s only because Adams could have picked up by another team and they wanted to make sure he stayed at home.  They add that Bell is expected to play this Sunday against the New York Giants.

The Carolina Panthers have decided to put quarterback Cam Newton on injured reserve.  He has been nursing a foot problem for most of the season and the team can’t say when he might be healthy enough to get back on the field.  It won’t be a total loss, as Kyle Allen has come in to carry the team and he has been doing well.  With Newton, the Panthers lost their first two games; since Allen stepped in, he has led them to five wins and just one loss.  Perhaps being on injured reserve is a blessing in disguise.

Nick Foles is coming back to the action for the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The quarterback was injured during the first game of the season, suffering a broken collarbone that required surgery.  Since then, Gardner Minshew has filled in and has done a great job, at least until this past Sunday.  The Jags were expected to roll over the Houston Texans when the two teams met up in London, but Minshew had some difficulty.  He went 27 for 47, didn’t put a single touchdown on the board and threw two interceptions.  Minshew Mania will come to an end on a sour note, but at least Foles will have time to get back in the game.  The Jags don’t play another game until November 17 when they take on the Indianapolis Colts.

Rounding out the latest update in what’s going on around the league, a black cat thought he was a giant Monday night.  The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys were playing in MetLife Stadium for Monday Night Football when a black cat ran out on the field, coming to take a defensive lineman’s stance on the two-yard line and causing a delay of game penalty that couldn’t be flagged against either team.  State troopers went out to corral the furry creature, but he proved to have too many moves and escaped, heading into the stands.  The feline wasn’t quite done, though, and made it back onto the field for a cameo appearance.  The cat ultimately became the star of the game and did what most black cats do – brought bad luck.  The Giants went on to fall 37-18 against the Cowboys.

According to the latest reports, he’s still running around the stadium, patrolling his immense domain.
