Daily Picks Nov 8: Cavs Can Against Wizards

Jumping right into tonight’s NBA action and our picks for Nov 8, the Washington Wizards woefully want a win.  They’re hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight and haven’t had a good run lately.  They’ve lost four of their past five games, giving up at least 121 points in each of the contests.  They’re toward the bottom of the list in the overall NBA standings because of it and are trying to fight back.

Sports Intel Daily Picks Nov 8

The Cavs aren’t too much better than the Wizards – they’ve lost their last three, despite having six players score in the double digits.  Collin Sexton, Tristan Thompson and Jordan Clarkson had especially good nights, and they’ll have to pull out everything they can against the Wizards.  They’re the underdogs going into this Eastern Conference contest that is going to be a race.  It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see the ‘dogs win, especially if the Wizards’ Rui Hachimura can’t get out of his slump.

The Golden State Warriors are most likely going to see the return of D’Angelo Russell tonight, which might have the Minnesota Timberwolves redefining their strategy.  Without Russell, as well as Stephen Curry (who won’t be back anytime soon), the team has been falling apart, as evidenced by their most recent loss against the Houston Rockets.  If he’s healthy enough to give his all, the Warriors stand a chance.

The Timberwolves have had a strong offense this season, while the defense hasn’t been playing up to speed.  However, they’ve decided to give away three of their last four games and need to pull themselves together.  Even though the Warriors have a depleted roster, they have still managed to keep strong control of the ball and the Timberwolves have to play smarter tonight.  Chances are, they will, and wagers seem to back that up.

If the New Orleans Pelicans can figure out what they’re doing wrong on defense, they could be leading the NBA.  They’re offense is doing an awesome job, but assignments in keeping opponents out of the zone have fallen apart.  Tonight’s game against the Toronto Raptors is a chance for the Pelicans to seek some redemption and see if they been able to fix their defensive deficiencies.

New Orleans is 1-6 on the season going up against a 5-2 team and has to deal with several injuries.  Zion Williamson is still out, and Lonzo Ball and JJ Reddick are maybe yes/maybe no, depending on the weather.  The Pelicans are ranked fourth on offense, but a broken defense isn’t giving the team the protection it needs.  With the injuries and benched players heading into tonight, our pick for Nov 8 is that the Pelicans are going to fall to the Raptors.

The Milwaukee Bucks have, surprisingly, been performing really well.  They may have blown two games, but they’re still 6-2 on the season and are preparing for the Utah Jazz tonight in our final pick for Nov 8.  The Jazz are 5-3, so this contest should prove to be relatively exciting.  Milwaukee has won its last four games and turned on the offense in its most recent contest against the LA Clippers, something they are ready to do again tonight.

Both teams are at the top of the charts in both offense and defense.  However, the Bucks’ secret weapon, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is going to prove to be too much for the Jazz.  It’s a tight contest, but the Bucks should walk away with another victory tonight.
