The Sweet 16 Bracket Is Now Set In March Madness

The Sweet 16 Bracket Is Now Set In March Madness

This March Madness has been unlike anything before it. Upsets have been the theme so far, with the Pac-12 making a grand entrance into the Sweet 16. There are twice as many teams from the conference than from any other single conference and there are also as many from the Summit League as there are from the Big Ten and Big 12 combined. Probably the biggest surprise of them all comes from the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, who have advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time ever.

Gonzaga Still On Top

The Gonzaga Bulldogs remain undefeated and now sit with a perfect 28-0 record ahead of the Sweet 16. They have proven to be unstoppable this year and are still the heavy favorites to win the championship. Next up, they face the Creighton Bluejays this coming Sunday.

The Baylor Bears are looking for a better run this year than last and have done well so far. They sit on a 24-2 record thanks to a superior defense that has completely taken over college basketball and will try to prove themselves once again this Saturday. The Bears face the Villanova Wildcats this weekend, looking for a spot in the Elite Eight.

The Michigan Wolverines have made it to the Sweet 16, the last of the Big Ten teams to stay alive. They have become stronger as the year has progressed, but can’t let up now. The Wolverines will face the Florida State Seminoles this Sunday in what should prove to be a very tight game.

Alabama Continues To Slaughter

The Alabama Crimson Tide have had a stellar year. The school took both the SEC football and basketball championships and is in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2004. When they defeated the Maryland Terrapins in the Second Round, they did so by annihilating them with accuracy from beyond the paint and that type of offense is hard to stop. They face the UCLA Bruins this Sunday in a game that won’t be easy.

The Loyola Ramblers have had a field day running over Big Ten and ACC teams to get to where they are. They have advanced repeatedly as the underdog and are now getting a lot more attention. When they face the Oregon State Beavers this Saturday, they’ll do so as favorites.

The Houston Cougars turned up the dial on offense when they took on the Rutgers Scarlett Knights. They were almost eliminated but overcame an 8-point deficit with just over four minutes on the clock to win and advance to the Sweet 16. They face the Syracuse Orange this Saturday and can’t afford to let any shots slip by if they want to keep moving forward.

Oregon Cleans House

The Oregon Ducks have helped make sure that the Sweet 16 lineup is void of any major threats. The Pac-12 team is ready for a deep run, but it has to get passed one more game first. That will be this Sunday when the Ducks face the USC Trojans in a close match.

The Seminoles have advanced to the Sweet 16 after taking down the Colorado Buffaloes in a surprise upset. This is the third straight year the Noles have made it to the Sweet 16 and possibly a second Elite Eight appearance, but one thing stands in their way. They have to take on the Wolverines this Sunday, facing the team that knocked them out of the Elite Eight in the 2018 season.

Jumping down the list of teams in the Sweet 16, the one listed at the bottom deserves a special mention. The Golden Eagles have done something that no one ever though possible, advancing to the Sweet 16. This Saturday, the team’s highly-anticipated game against the Arkansas Razorbacks is a replay of one these two teams played in December. The Razorbacks won, but not before the Golden Eagles put up a massive fight. That should happen once again this weekend.
