Vik’s Picks Feb 21! Cavs Are Bad, But Good For Betting

Vik’s Picks Feb 21! Cavs Are Bad, But Good For Betting

I’m going to write a daily piece that highlights my favorite daily picks on the sports slate, so what do we have for Feb 21.

Yesterday I finished 2-1. While every day is a new opportunity and I don’t want to get sucked into yesterday, I think it’s worth reviewing things each day. This will help us get better as we move forward. So, here goes:

I bet:

* Arizona State +2 (won) – The Sun Devils won straight up!
* Oregon State-Arizona over 138.5 (won) – Pace was up and down and played out as I had penned.
* Charlotte-Chicago over 210  (lost) – The Bulls started out 0-17 shooting. Puke

Now, onto today’s card. The NBA is back and CBB is in full force. With mostly Ivy League ball today I’m focusing more on NBA betting.  Don’t worry about researching the card, because we’ve done the work for you.

Vik’s Picks Feb 21

Cleveland Cavaliers +6 at Washington Wizards

Washington is a huge public favorite tonight, and understandably so. The Cavs are one of the worst teams in the league and in disarray with their recent coach firing. Because of this, over 85% of the public bets are on the Wizards.

With Beilen out in Cleveland, Bickerstaff takes over as the Cavs coach. He has done this before in the past and will be just fine tonight. Here is a trend that plays out every year in the NBA. Teams usually not only cover but win their first game with new coaches. It is a motivation thing. The starting lineup and the bench guys will give it their all tonight to be in their new coaches good graces. Look for some of that tonight.

And, while Washington has a high-scoring offense, their defense is terrible. A motivated Cavs squad should be able to keep up tonight. Six points is just way too much for this matchup.

Celtics-Timberwolves under 228

When it comes to the total, it has actually gone down from a starting number of 230. I would not be surprised to see this number down to 226 later tonight, so try to grab it when you can. I would go as low as 226 personally, but grabbed it early. Most of this is due movement is due to Kemba Walker and KAT being out tonight. But, the sharps have also gotten involved. As usual, the “wiseguys” know before everyone if someone is going to be out, so a considerable amount of money came in on the under 230 and 229 earlier in the day.

Both offenses metrics are like night and day with them in the game. The Celtics play great defense, so I don’t see that falling off today, even with Kemba out.

The Timberwolves on the other hand are a mess. They have a completely new lineup after the trade deadline and now with KAT out, they are going to need some time to gel.

I’d be surprised to see this go over, unless for overtime or some late FTs. Grab it when you can.

Denver Nuggets at OKC Thunder -1

As expected, the Nuggets are back towards the top of the West. But, tonight I like the Thunder.

OKC is playing great basketball, as they are 7-3 over their last ten games. The Nuggets are also better at home than they are on the road. Nothing revealing there, but every little thing counts.

Also, the public is hammering Denver in this spot tonight at a 88% clip. Yet, the line has gone to OKC -1 from a ‘pk. This indicated reverse line movement on the Thunder.

Denver’s Will Barton is also questionable, as he is a huge spark plug for this squad.

Tonight’s game is also on ESPN, which helps in these types of situational betting spots. I’ll take the Thunder, as I have them 3-points better in tonight’s matchup.

Well, that is all folks for my picks for Feb 21. Good luck on today’s wagers!
