Jazz Fall In Sunday NBA Loss To The Warriors

Jazz Fall In Sunday NBA Loss To The Warriors

It never hurts to end a weekend with some good NBA games.  Last night, fans were once again presented with some incredible contests, though not everyone is happy.  The Houston Rockets are close to surpassing their worst losing streak ever.

Pels Outpace The Clippers

Zion Williamson again showed his usual repertoire of strong finishes at the rim for the New Orleans Pelicans last night.  This left the LA Clippers struggling defensively, while the Pels picked up their second straight win. Williamson scored 27 points and had five assists, and teammate Brandon Ingram also contributed with 23 points.  New Orleans didn’t have any trouble overcoming the Clippers 135-115.

The Clippers were getting constant offense from Ingram, who made slashing attacks, overhead shots, and three 3-pointers, including the one he got while getting fouled for a 4-point play. Lonzo Ball also gave it his all after hitting five 3-pointers.  He finished with 20 points for New Orleans. For the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard and Reggie Jackson scored 23 and 18 points, respectively. The team was missing its usual starting guard, Patrick Beverly, due to a recent right knee injury.

As part of what’s coming next for these teams, the Pelicans will open a three-game road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers tomorrow night. The Clippers will visit the Dallas Mavericks today in the first of two games in Dallas in three nights.

Rockets Receive Another Loss

With no trouble at all, the Boston Celtics defeated the Houston Rockets 134-107 on Sunday night. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum put in all of their effort to achieve that victory after scoring 24 and 23 points, respectively.  Houston’s performance is going from bad to worse, as this is the 16th game the team has lost. This losing streak is the second-longest in franchise history since 1968 when the Rockets were dealt 17 consecutive losses.  This season, they haven’t won since February 4.

This isn’t the case for the winner of the game, who has won five of six games now.  Boston was only up by four points after one period, but as the game went on, its intensity increased, and so did the points.  Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said after the game, “The game rewards you if you approach it the right way, and he does that for us.”

The Rockets are going to host the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, while the Celtics are waiting for the Utah Jazz on the same night.

76ers Welcome Back Fans

With an arena where the fans were welcomed back, the Philadelphia 76ers had to deliver and not disappoint. And so it was, the Sixers made their home court come to life again after getting a victory against the short-handed San Antonio Spurs, 134-99, on Sunday night.  This was achieved even when Joel Embiid missed the game due to an injury.

Tobias Harris, who grabbed the mic to welcome back all the fans, scored 23 points, while Seth Curry managed to score 21 points.  The Sixers hold on the top spot in the Eastern Conference and it seems that no team has managed to knock them down from that position. The team has now won their fifth straight game.  Drew Eubanks and Derrick White led the Spurs with 17 points, not enough to defeat an unstoppable team.

The Spurs will now visit the Detroit Pistons tonight, while the Sixers are getting ready to host the New York Knicks tomorrow.

Jazz Hit A Brick Wall

Draymond Green’s great performance enabled the Golden State Warriors to defeat the NBA-leading Utah Jazz 131-119 on Sunday night. Green managed to get his 26th career triple-double after scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists.  With that, the team also ended a season-worst four-game losing streak.

As usual, Stephen Curry also played a crucial role in the victory, especially with his 3-pointers. He had 32 points with six 3-pointers and 9 assists, while Andrew Wiggins added 28 points for Golden State.

Rudy Gobert tried to give it all after getting 24 points and a career-high 28 rebounds for Utah, who became the league’s latest team to reach double-digit losses.  Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley, and Jordan Clarkson scored 24, 23, and 21 points, respectively.  Coming up next, the Jazz will visit Boston tomorrow night, and the Warriors will host the LA Lakers tonight.
