Daily Picks Nov 19: Blazers Should Handle Pelicans

While the NFL deals with players slamming helmets into unprotected heads of other players and MLB deals with a possible long-running cheating scandal on the part of the Houston Astros, the NBA seems to have calmed down a little bit.  Nothing will, hopefully, ever come close to the Malice at the Palace 15 years ago, but this doesn’t mean the NBA is fight-free, at least for now.  As this week’s games unfold, the league would like things to stay that way, so today lets look at our daily picks for Nov 19.

Sports Intel Daily Picks Nov 19

Let’s start our picks for Nov 19 by saying that neither the New Orleans Pelicans nor the Portland Trail Blazers are having the season they expected, but the Trail Blazers are hoping a new addition will give them an edge.  Carmelo Anthony is expected to make his NBA debut tonight after a failed attempt at entering care of the Houston Rockets last year.

The Pels are going to have to play without a lot of key players, including their first-round draft pick, Zion Williamson, as well as Darius Miller.  Frank Jackson, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram are just a few of the other teammates that may or may not suit up tonight and, if they don’t, things aren’t looking good for the 4-9 Pelicans.  Even if they make a return, their recent injuries might prevent them from being able to give 100%, and the Trail Blazers are expected to walk away with the victory.

The LA Lakers have been on a run this season, now sitting at 12-2.  They take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at home tonight in what should be a lopsided game.  It will be interesting, at the very least, since Thunder guard is reportedly being discussed as a possible candidate for a trade to the Lakers.  Nothing is set in stone yet, but all eyes will be on how he performs tonight.

The Thunder has some raw talent, but it hasn’t developed this year as it should have, which is reflected in the team’s 5-8 record.  They’ll have to try something new tonight if they expect to show the Western Conference leaders that they’re a serious team.  Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari are helping to keep the team alive, but they’re having to face a team that is simply too powerful.  Don’t expect the Lakers to give this game their full attention, since they’re about to head out for a long stretch on the road, but they’ll still take the win.

The Washington Wizards need a boost and might be able to find it tonight against the San Antonio Spurs.  They just lost against the Orlando Magic to take their record to 3-8 and are looking to step up their game, especially since they lost to the Spurs when the two met earlier this season in October.

The Spurs lost their most recent game, as well, being taken out by the Dallas Mavericks last night.  This gave them eight losses in nine games and a 5-9 record.  They have to be prepared for Rui Hachimura who, despite not getting off to a great start in the league, is set for a breakout at any minute.  Things will be interesting tonight and it should be a close game, but the Wizards will find the spark they’ve been missing to pick up another addition to the win column.

That;s it for our NBA picks and parlays for Nov 19, good luck everyone!
