The Rays and Braves Look to Keep Moving Up With Tonight’s Games

Many games are on the schedule today as the second half of the MLB season resumes on Monday. Here’s a look at a few exciting matchups in today’s action on the diamond:

Rays and Orioles Clash in AL East Matchup

The Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles meet again in a battle of AL East Division rivals. The Rays are third in the division and trail the first-place New York Yankees by 13 games, while the Orioles are in last place with an 18-game deficit between them and the top of the division.

Tampa is 7-3 in their last ten games but has lost two straight on the road. Baltimore is 26-19 at home this season and is coming off a series loss to the Yankees over the weekend. They are also 8-2 in the last ten games at Camden Yards.

This is the 13th meeting of the season between these two rivals, with Tampa leading the series 7-5. Corey Kluber is 6-5 with a 3.73 ERA for the Rays and will go up against Austin Voth, who is 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA for Baltimore.

Tampa will win its fourth straight game with Kluber on the mound.

Braves Begin Series With Phillies

The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies start a three-game series tonight at Citizens Bank Park. Atlanta has been waiting patiently for the New York Mets to falter in the NL East standings and are 1.5 games behind them for the top of the division. The Phillies are just behind them in third place in the standings, trailing by eight games.

The Braves are 6-4 in their last ten games and have won six of their previous seven series, with their only loss in that span coming to the Mets as they dropped two of three games. Hopefully, Atlanta can get some help from the Yankees as they take on the Mets for two games starting tomorrow. The Phillies try to avoid taking their fourth straight loss at home, where the Chicago Cubs recently swept them in three games.

Max Fried takes the mound for the Braves and is 10-3 with a 2.64 ERA. He’ll face Ranger Suarez, who holds a 7-5 record and 4.07 ERA this season.

The Braves win to hand the Phillies another home loss.

Guardians Travel To Fenway To Face Red Sox

The Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox begin a four-game series tonight in their second season meeting. Boston swept the first three games between the two teams in Cleveland. The Guardians are three games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central standings and are looking to end a two-game losing streak in tonight’s matchup.

Boston has recently been in a major slump, losing five straight games and 13 of their last 16 overall. Their only victories during that stretch have been against the first-place Yankees. As a result, the Red Sox have fallen to fourth place in the AL East and trail New York by 17.5 games.

Zach Plesac puts his 2-7 record and 4.02 ERA on the line for Cleveland tonight as he faces Nick Pivetta of the Red Sox, who is 8-7 with a 4.50 ERA on the season.
