Tonight could be the last MLB game of 2020 if the Dodgers manage to beat the Rays in game 6 of the World Series.  We’re looking at game & player props in this article for those that want to spice up their betting card for this clash of titans.

Rays (Blake Snell | 2-2, 3.33 ERA) vs. Dodgers (Tony Gonsolin | 0-2, 9.39 ERA)

Can the Los Angeles Dodgers finally finish a World Series in the win column and take out the Tampa Bay Rays in game 6 tonight?

Well, if you are sticking to the win a game, lose a game series the Dodgers have been having, then maybe they don’t get it done tonight. It makes sense to hesitate betting LA with Gonsolin on the hill and his ugly 9.39 ERA so far in the playoffs.

Gonsolin has looked rough, to say the least, this postseason, and will likely be running on a very short leash tonight.

So far, he’s tossed 7⅔ innings, allowing six hits and an obscene eight runs along the way.  Walks have been a real issue for Gonsolin as well, allowing seven free passes in as many innings. He’s allowed just a single longball so it stands to reason that if he can just settle down and limit the walks, he might be able to make a real difference tonight.

In the regular season, Gonsolin was phenomenal.  He held batters to a .193 average and coughed up just a pair of home runs.

But things have unraveled now that the pressure is on and I can’t expect a long outing from the youngster tonight. Unless he comes out dealing like Nolan Ryan, expect a short night for the starter Gonsolin and for the Dodgers bullpen to be tasked with most of the work.

The Rays will look for their ace, Blake Snell, to put the team in a position to win game 6 and extend this series.  Snell is 2-2 with a 3.33 ERA in the playoffs and went 4 ⅔ innings and gave up just two runs in game 2.  He did give up a costly home run but overall, Snell did his job in limiting LA to just two hits.

Snell struck out nine hitters in his short appearance as the Dodgers really struggled to get a feel for him.

In Snell’s 24 total postseason innings this year, he has allowed just eight hits but a shocking nine runs.  Five long balls are the reason for this discrepancy in stats and much like Gonsolin’s walks, need to be reeled in.

Another issue for Snell in my opinion is his ability to go deep into games.  Or lack thereof in his case.

Snell, despite his ‘elite’ status, has yet to go six innings at all in 2020.  Not just the playoffs, this includes the regular season as well.

One glaring reason for this seems to be that hitters are quick to figure Snell out.  In his first trip through a rotation, Snell holds opponents to a .140 average.  Pretty solid.  However, batters on their second trip to the plate versus snell are hitting over .300.  This mimics what happened to him his last outing against the Dodgers and is something to keep an eye on as this game progresses if you are looking to live bet.

LA enters this game having scored at least four runs in each of the first five games of this series and my first bet of the night is based on this number.

The Dodgers team total is currently set at 4.5 with the over at +109 at Draftkings and I like their bats to continue their hot hitting tonight.

LA has scored 31 total runs on the Rays so far in five games or 6.2 runs per game on average.  While I do expect Snell to limit the Dodgers while he is in the game, history tells us Snell won’t be going deep into this game.  That leaves the Rays bullpen to try and keep a lid on this explosive offense and I’m not sure they can keep them below 5 runs for the game.

Mookie Betts especially is deadly to any pitching staff but has been especially effective in this series and is a career .333 hitter vs. Snell.

As mentioned above, Snell’s numbers take a nosedive in his 2nd and 3rd trips around the order so it’s also possible the Dodgers get to him in the early innings and send Snell to the pen earlier than usual.

Sticking with betting on the Dodgers offense, I also really like Mookie Betts to go OVER 1.5 total bases at +100.  He has already accomplished this three times in the World Series so far and has a career full of hits off of Snell.  The Dodgers will need their best player to play like it tonight and I think two total bases are in the cards for Betts in game 6.
