Suns, Jazz Handed Embarrassing Losses Thursday

Only a few NBA games were played last night, but a lot of triple-doubles and career-highs were achieved by different players.  It was clear that the offensive moves were more than amazing, even if the lines didn’t move completely as expected.

Westbrook Gets 13th Triple-Double

Russell Westbrook had one of those great nights, as he got his 13th triple-double of the season for the Washington Wizards. He managed to score a total of 35 points, 15 rebounds, and 13 assists, and, in addition. teammate Bradley Beal contributed a lot after getting 43 points.  This helped the Wiz pull off an upset against the Utah Jazz, 131-122.  Besides overcoming a great team like Utah, the Wizards also broke a five-game losing streak overall.

On the other hand, Donovan Mitchell also was on fire, as he managed to equal his season-high with 42 points for the Jazz, who even when has lost four of six in March, still keep the NBA’s best record. Joe Ingles also put up a great effort, and added a career-high 34 points for Utah, including eight 3-pointers.

In the first quarter, Washington was already unstoppable as the team scored 13 straight to take a 23-12 lead with only five minutes to play.  Coming up next the Jazz will visit the Toronto Raptors today, while the Wizards flight to New York to face the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow.

Randle Leads The Knicks To A Win

Another triple-double was achieved by Julius Randle who scored 18 points, 17 assists, and 10 rebounds, making its third of the season. This definitely helped the New York Knicks get a 94-93 victory over the Orlando Magic last night.  Evan Fournier scored 23 points but Reggie Bullock found a way to steal his pass on Orlando’s final possession, making them drop their ninth straight.

Randle has now added more triple-doubles to his seven-year NBA career, nine in total. His teammates Alec Burks, Reggie Bullock, and RJ Barret scored 21, 20, and 17 points, respectively. Some of the point guards were unavailable for the Knicks last night. including Austin Rivers (personal reason), Derrick Rose (health and safety protocols) and Elfrid Payton (strained right hamstring).  For Orlando, Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon each got 17 points. The winner of this game will now host the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night, while the Magic are going to host the Nets tonight.

Timberwolves With The Upset

Anthony Edwards has shown that he is a rookie willing to succeed every single expectation for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as he scored a career-high 42 points, while his teammate Karl-Anthony Towns added 41.  This led to the Timberwolves pulling off a major upset win against the Phoenix Suns. 123-119 on Thursday night.  This team has now won three of five games since the All-Star break and suddenly looks like a respectable NBA basketball team. The Timberwolves still have the worst record in the league, but they’ve been redeeming themselves lately.

For the Suns, Devin Booker led the scoring after getting 35 points on 13-of-22 shooting. Mikal Bridges and Chris Paul both added 17 extra points. “Our game plan discipline wasn’t at a high level on defense and we were sloppy on offense,” Suns coach Monty Williams said after the game.  Both teams are meeting once again in Phoenix later today.

Lakers Pull Ahead With Latest Win

The LA Lakers are moving back into second place in the Western Conference, achieved thanks to the great effort LeBron James gave last night. The All-Star player had 37 points, eight rebounds and six assists, to help the Lakers overcome the Charlotte Hornets 116-105 and their fourth straight victory. James is near to getting his 100th triple-double.  Dennis Schröder had 22 points and seven assists for the defending NBA champions, who have been unbeaten since the All-Star break despite playing without All-NBA big man Anthony Davis since February 14.

LaMelo Ball got a total of 26 points and seven assists for the Hornets, who have opened their five-game West Coast trip by losing back-to-back games for the first time since February 5.  As part of what’s coming next for these teams, the Hornets will face the LA Clippers and the Lakers will take on the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow.
