Thursday’s SportsIntel Intelligent Picks

With the World Series having come to a successful close, it’s now time to focus on the NBA and NFL action. There are a number of hot NBA games tonight, while the NFL game between the New York Jets and the Indianapolis Colts could also provide some entertainment. Most of the NBA games appear to be completely lopsided, but this doesn’t mean they don’t have value.

Sixers Have Easy Night Against the Pistons

The Philadelphia 76ers just took down the Chicago Bulls and hope to keep the momentum going when they meet the Detroit Pistons tonight. This should be an easy fifth consecutive victory for the team, with Seth Curry on fire.

Philadelphia is on a 9-1 ATS run against teams with a winning percentage record of 40% or lower and the Pistons have only won one game in their last seven. There’s not a lot of talent or depth on the roster, and it’s beginning to show. Backing the moneyline, which has the 76ers way out in front at -240, doesn’t offer a whole lot of value, but taking the Over on a 208 total is good for a small wager.

Jazz and Hawks In a Tight Game

This should be an interesting, and possibly fun, game to watch. The odds are very tight on both of these teams, with almost no separation on the moneyline or spread. Both teams are having decent seasons – the Jazz are 6-1 and the Hawks are 4-4 – but Atlanta has an advantage. Utah is banged up right now, which could hurt them tonight.

The Jazz showed what happens when you lose key players Tuesday night, almost dropping the game against the Sacramento Kings. They’re without Rudy Gobert tonight, which is going to be an issue. However, the Jazz have a slight edge on the moneyline, -115 to -105. That’s based on their overall performance this season, but an upset in Atlanta could be on the way. Don’t expect a high-scoring game, though, and backing the Under 220.5 is a good option.

Jets Still Turning Things Around

In the NFL, the Jets are still trying to shake off the nightmare season they had last year. So far, however, it’s not really working. They’re at 2-5, ready to face a team that’s almost at their level. The Colts are 3-5 and are in need of some help on offense. They won’t find it tonight.

The Jets just took a surprise win against the Cincinnati Bengals and everyone is still trying to figure out how it happened. They were losing for the entire game until they found their mojo in the last five minutes and put 11 points on the board. Oddsmakers believe they’ll keep it up, especially if QB Mike White can continue to find Michael Carter and Ty Johnson. Should that happen, the +385 Jets moneyline doesn’t give any return. The spread of 10.5 found at most books is a good target, though, with the Jets taking the game and dominating the Colts.
