MLB, NFL Free Picks of the Week

Sports bettors have more options to choose from now that the NFL preseason and MLB games are lining up on the same days. Looking at some of the action on tap in both leagues today, there will be some interesting results and, hopefully, no more thrown belts. This is your look at SportsIntel’s free sports picks of the week.

Reds Look for Wild Card Spot

The second National League Wild Card spot is open, with both the San Diego Padres and the Cincinnati Reds in the hunt. The Reds (65-57) take on the Miami Marlins (51-70) tonight and are going to come out firing. 1.5 games behind the Padres, the Reds have a lot going for them now, and taking them on the -235 moneyline is a good move. This also makes their -1.5 (-115) run line easy money. Take the Over (-105) on the Over/Under of 8, with the Reds doing most of the work.

Chicago White Sox Over the A’s

The Chicago White Sox (71-50) will meet the Oakland A’s (68-53) at home tonight, and Oakland has had some difficulty lately. Chicago has already taken three in this four-game series, with nothing showing that the A’s will break the trend. Backing the White Sox at -165 is a win, as is taking them on the -1.5 run line. Can the Over/Under of 9 be reached? Probably not. Back the Under at -110.

NYY Take on the Minnesota Twins

The New York Yankees (69-52) face the Minnesota Twins (54-67) tonight, and Jameson Taillon is having a stellar performance on the mound. The Yankees swept the Boston Red Sox, but the Twins took out the Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros. Minnesota goes in as the underdog tonight and could pull off the upset. At +230 (the Yankees are getting -300), it would be a big win. Both of these teams are good against the spread, but taking the Twins at +2.5 (-130) with their win could pay off. The Over/Under is at 10.5 and backing the Over (-110) is not unreasonable.

NFL Finds Patriots Battling the Eagles

There’s one NFL game on the schedule for tonight. The New England Patriots (1-0) face the Philadelphia Eagles (0-1). These two faced off in Super Bowl LII, but tonight’s game won’t see the Eagles taking the win. The Pats are starting strong and are getting -125 on the moneyline (+105 for the Eagles), which is a good move. The spread is only -1.5 (-110) for New England, but a bigger differential is a given. The Over/Under stands at 38.5 right now and, with the Eagles showing more coordination tonight, it’s possible the Over (-110) will make it.

Chiefs and Cardinals Do Battle Tomorrow

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals – both 1-0 in the preseason – face each other tomorrow. In addition to already having one win each, both of their respective games ended with the same score, 19-16, in Week 1. The Chiefs plan on putting several starters on the field, but the Cards are dealing with injuries that could present a problem. Take the Chiefs at -140 and add the -2 (-110) spread. The Over/Under of 41 makes way for a small wager on the Over (-110). The Chiefs should dominate and run up the score.
