NFL’s Last Week of the Regular Season

NFL’s Last Week of the Regular Season

It’s the last yard in the playoff race, and NFL teams are ready to fight for the remaining tickets to the postseason. Four teams have one goal, to clinch the last spots in the playoffs. First, the Indianapolis Colts will seek to confirm their appearance in the postseason against the Jacksonville Jaguars, while the San Francisco 49ers will attempt the same over the Los Angeles Rams. Finally, it’s the Los Angeles Chargers who will take on the Las Vegas Raiders for both teams’ last chance to extend their hopes to pursue the 2022 Super Bowl title.

Colts’ Last Attempt over Jaguars

The Indianapolis Colts, according to experts, has a  79% chance of reaching the playoffs. However, to do so, the squad needs a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Stadium in Florida. Currently, the Colts have a 9-7 season record and are 5-2 in road performances. Jacksonville is 2-6 at home this season.

When it comes to the last minute, players like running back Jonathan Taylor could lead the squad to a solid victory. However, Indianapolis will not have to look that far back to review some of the gameplay strategies that allowed the team to get a 23-17 win over the Jaguars on November 14.

For Jacksonville, it all comes down to quickly finishing one of the most dreadful seasons in the franchise’s history. Although standing with only two wins, the Jaguars could still upset the Colts and end their playoff hopes by pulling a win over the desperate Colts.

49ers Last-Minute Pursuit of Beating the Los Angeles Rams

Given that the Los Angeles Rams have secured a spot in the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons, the San Francisco 49ers might have an open path to pursue their last-chance ticket. Still, experts are placing the 49ers’ chance of winning at 35%, but at 60% to make it to the postseason.

San Francisco finished the regular season stage with a 9-7 record. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to make a solid appearance and add to his 3,494 passing yards and 19 touchdowns.

As for the Rams, the squad is expected to line up their starting team. However, Rams coach Sean McVay has provided no firm confirmations that he will be sitting quarterback Matthew Stafford or the league’s top receiver, Cooper Kupp. The 49ers will need to focus on keeping a solid defensive line to sustain the 49ers’ attacks.

Chargers Looking to Top Raiders

The Los Angeles Chargers will play in one of the most anticipated games of the final NFL week. The Chargers will take on the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday. Both teams will be fighting for a win to clinch a playoff spot.

The Chargers are currently standing at a 58% chance of winning and making it to the playoffs. Still, they will need a solid win over Las Vegas to guarantee they move on to the next round. That is why the LA squad is expected to rely on Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson’s rushing game to propel the team to a win.

As for the Raiders, according to experts, their chances of making it to the playoffs are just below the 50% mark. So, for Las Vegas, a win is necessary. Also, a tie and the Colts losing might still give them a chance to play in the postseason.

It’s all down to the last game. Having finished with a 9-7 regular-season record, both squads will prepare to make the most of their previous matchup to keep competing for a potential Super Bowl title.
