UFC June 20 Fight Night Picks And Parlays

The Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to lead the way in the world’s return to professional sports.  This weekend, on June 20, we have yet another UFC Fight Night event to watch and wager.

UFC Fight Night June 20 Picks

Clay Guida +185 vs. Bobby Green -240

The main event of the preliminary card on Saturday was a late addition and pits Clay Guida against Bobby Green against one another. A pair of veterans in the lightweight division who are looking to make one last push before calling it a career.

Guida, the underdog, comes into this fight with a 15-13 record in his 14 years fighting for the UFC.  Guida is a very special fighter and one which I really disliked early on in his career.  Something about his swinging hair and odd fighting style just didn’t sit well with me.

Eventually, I came around on the Chicago native, becoming a fan and even making a few bucks off him in the ensuing years.

But, at 38 years of age, I think the curtain is ready to come down on The Carpenter.

He was never quite championship material despite facing seven title holders over the years.  He has taken a lot of damage over the years and clearly has lost a step. This is especially important in the lightweight division.  The bigger guys can hang around longer as they don’t rely as much on their speed and prefer to lumber around and try to hulk smash.  Green, at just 33 years old, will hold a significant speed and reaction advantage here.

The younger favorite is 24-10 as a professional but has a rough 1-5-1 record in his last seven fights which does raise an eyebrow.  Now, four of those losses were very close split decisions so I am willing to consider him close to a .500 fighter in those last seven fights for the purposes of handicapping this one.

In those 24 wins, Brown has 17 stoppages and shown that he is very capable of ending a fight abruptly.

This will be Greens 36th fight and I believe it will be another win for the veteran.  His boxing skills and elusive movements will make him a hard target for Guida to keep up with.  His odds of -245 aren’t the best on their own, but make a perfect first leg of our UFC parlay for June 20.

Best Bet: Bobby Green -240

Shane Burgos -143 vs Josh Emmett +115

Our next UFC fight takes us to the Co-Main Event of the evening of June 20 where featherweight contenders Shane Bugos and Josh Emmett take center stage.

Emmett is currently the number eight ranked fighter in the featherweight division and is two wins away from a likely title shot.   He has really found his stride in recent years after a slow start to his UFC career. He was hyped as a huge power fighter but his first four fights went to decision and left fans wanting more.  Since then, he has ended his last four fights by knockout and showcased his one-punch knockout power.

Emmett’s power is such an asset it’s easy to forget he actually is a wrestler by trade.

With an all-around style win or lose, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him contend for the belt for years to come despite his age.

Emmett will struggle to keep up with the speed of Bugos here and is also the smaller fighter which is troubling for anyone looking to score an underdog win.

Not only does Burgos hold the advantage in the size and speed department, but his conditioning is also world-class.  This combination of traits makes for a very hard fight for Emmett.

“Hurricane” Burgos is one of those fighters who barrages his opponents with quick and well-placed strikes from bell to bell.  He averages an insane 7.09 strikes per minute landed, basically punishing anyone who tries to stand and throw with him.

Burgos is 13-1 as a pro, 6-1 in the UFC, and has ten stoppages under his belt.  He is currently the number 10 contender and I think has a legit shot to hold the belt at some point as early as 2021.

Not only does Burgos know how to let his hands go, but he also possesses a strong ground game.  His defense in particular is on point with a 90% rate of stuffing takedowns and is one of the biggest reasons to trust him as a favorite here.

The combination of age, size, speed, and conditioning make Burgos a fantastic value at -143 and a strong addition to our Fight Night parlay.

Best Bet: Shane Burgos -143
