Tonight is a great night for basketball – not that there’s ever a bad night. As the NBA has gotten back to work in the Orlando bubble, the season is shaping up to see some unexpected surprises in the finals and maybe even a huge underdog win. At this point, anything is possible, and no one can discount any team. That has been made obvious by some of the scores lately, and two NBA games set for tonight are going to be particularly interesting so lets have a look at our best bets for August 3rd.

The Miami Heat “Host” The Toronto Raptors

The first of our NBA bets on August 3rd sees the Toronto Raptors (47-18) take on the Miami Heat (42-24), after each scored major victories this weekend. This is certain to make for an outstanding game. The Raptors upset the LA Lakers on Saturday, 107-92, in the team’s first game inside the bubble. That was after they went on a four-game winning streak ahead of the coronavirus break, and, at second in the Eastern Conference, the Toronto squad is ready to dominate.

The Heat picked up their latest victory when they walked all over the Denver Nuggets, 125-105. In fourth place in the Eastern, going up against the third-place Western Conference team wasn’t going to be an easy task, but the Heat proved they were more than prepared. They’ll be prepared tonight, as well, having already beaten the Raptors twice this season. Choosing a winner, however, is not easy.

Both teams are almost even in points scored, slightly above 112, and are strong on both offense and defense. However, the Raptors deserve a little extra push tonight simply because of how they handled the Lakers this weekend. At -139, they’re the definite favorites to win and, while they’ll have to fight for it, will come out on top. An Over of +3.5 to the Raptors is also a good target with your NBA bets for August 3rd.

The Thunder Rolls In Orlando

The Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Nuggets (43-23) tonight, as well. The Nuggets may be ranked higher in the conference, but the Thunder (41-24, sixth in the Western) cannot be taken for granted. They proved themselves against the fifth-place Jazz this weekend in what was a relatively easy game for the OC squad. They grabbed the lead early and never let it go, building up a surplus of as many as 29 points as they cruised to victory. The Thunder brought the storms and continued its rally that was forced to a halt – coincidentally, against the Jazz – because of the coronavirus.

The Nuggets, now 1.5 games ahead of the Thunder, had a difficult time against the Heat, but they can’t be shoved aside just yet. It was their first game after the reboot, and they were at a disadvantage. Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and Will Barton were out and, yet, they managed to finish the first half ahead, even if it was by just one point.

The Nuggets may have been the favorite team if it weren’t for a couple of factors. Looking at the stats, the Thunder have won eight games out of the last 11 times these two teams faced off. In addition, Jamal Murray may be on the bench because of a hamstring injury, and the Nuggets’ second-leading scorer would be missed if he can’t play. He’s questionable now and, even if he’s in, won’t be at 100%. There’s also a chance that Harris and Barton will have to miss the game, as well.

That’s going to put a lot of pressure on Nikola Jokic, who can certainly handle it. However, he can’t do it all by himself. The possible lack of full-strength players for the team, coupled with the amazing performance shown by the Thunder this past weekend put the Nuggets at a disadvantage. OC is getting seriously huge support with NBA odds of -240, and shouldn’t have too much difficulty earning the win. With an Over/Under total of 219.5, take the over – both teams are going to turn up the heat as they fight for position in the playoffs.
