Division Dramas Spice Up NFL Week 16 Lines

The world would be a better place if there were football every day of the week, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon.  NFL fans will just have to settle with what bits and pieces the league throws at us and, fortunately, Week 16 will see a little extra action.  Saturday is going to have a couple of games on tap, for the first time this season, and the NFL Week 16 opening betting lines are now being set.

NFL Week 16 Betting Lines

The Buffalo Bills will face the New England Patriots on Saturday in what will be a decisive battle for both teams. This is a must-watch contest that has the Pats favored by a touchdown, but don’t blink during the game.  Even though New England is up six straight against Buffalo, this shouldn’t be an easy victory and might come with a surprise.

The San Francisco 49ers will host the LA Rams on Saturday, as well.  Despite a loss to the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday, the Niners aren’t worried too much about their upcoming game.  The Rams were three-point favorites when these two teams met earlier this season, only to lose 20-7, and they’re also coming off an embarrassing loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday.  San Fran will be playing tough ball, but will also be saving itself for its postseason appearances.  Still, even without having to come out strong, the 49ers win and are favored by -6.5.

The third Saturday game finds the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Houston Texans.  The Bucs are looking incredibly strong this late in the season and are one of the best teams, if not the best, in the NFC.  A four-game winning streak leads the NFC and want to find win number five this weekend.  The Texans may be slightly better in the standings, but they’re also 4-8 against NFC teams in their last 12 contests.  There is no clear favorite yet, but the Bucs are going to take the win.

The Baltimore Ravens are on their way to the playoffs, but still have to wrap up the regular season.  They’ll use this Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns as an opportunity to work on a few changes to their strategies to determine what they can use in the postseason.  Even though Cleveland beat the Ravens earlier this season, 40-25, as an underdog, don’t expect a repeat and take the -8 Ravens in the NFL Week 16 betting lines.

The New Orleans Saints meet the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and, surprisingly, they have opened as just barely the favorite.  Part of this is because of their track record against AFC teams, but the moneyline will definitely move as the week progresses.  Currently at -2, it won’t stay there and will increase substantially before Sunday.

In Weeks 16 and 17 over the course of the past decade, the Pittsburgh Steelers have found some extra stamina and have gone 17-3 straight-up.  They’ll be away this Sunday against the New York Jets in a game that is going to require both to pull every trick out of their magic hats to secure the win.

This is going to be a battle to the end, but the Steelers are expected to come out on top.  Maybe that’s because the Jets are 0-5-1 against the spread in December across their last six games.  The Jets are now 5-9 on the season and optimism for a win against the Steelers isn’t high.  The Steelers deserve some action at -3.
