The Cardinals Are in a Tough Spot Tonight in MLB Action

Major League Baseball has a full schedule of games on tap for Wednesday night. There’s plenty of action tonight, but bettors have a few games in particular to watch.

Cards Look To Avoid Four-Game Losing Streak

The St. Louis Cardinals are looking to salvage the last game in their series against the Atlanta Braves tonight at Truist Park. They are three games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central and have not lost four consecutive games this season. Miles Mikolas starts tonight for the Cards and is 5-6 with a 2.61 ERA.

Atlanta has been rolling as of late. It has won its last three series and eight of its previous eleven games. The Braves are now 2.5 games behind the New York Mets in the NL East standings.

The Braves have outscored the Cardinals 13-4 in the first two games of this series and have their ace Max Fried taking the mound tonight. He’s 8-2 with a 2.66 ERA on the season.

Atlanta wins to complete the series sweep.

Yankees Hope To Tie Series Versus Pirates

The New York Yankees are looking to rebound after losing Game 1 of their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2. It was their second straight loss on the current road trip, where they are 2-3 so far. However, new York still has the best record in baseball and leads the AL East by 13 games over the second-place Boston Red Sox. Luis Severino gets the start for the Yankees and is 4-3 with a 3.35 ERA.

Pittsburgh has won four of the last six games since a recent five-game losing streak in which they lost the series against the Tampa Bay Rays and Washington Nationals. They are third in the NL Central Division, 12.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers, and just a half-game ahead of the Chicago Cubs. Mitch Keller will get his 13th start for the Pirates and is 2-5 with a 5.14 ERA.

The Yankees win to end their two-game skid.

Rays and Red Sox In Battle for Second Place

AL East Division rivals the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox play the final game of their three-game series, which is tied 1-1. They have won four of their last five games on the current road trip. Corey Kluber will try to improve on his 3-5 season record and 3.91 ERA for Tampa in tonight’s start on the mound.

The Red Sox are 13 games behind the Yankees in the division standings, with the Rays just two games behind them in fourth place. However, they are 4-5 since their recent seven-game win streak was snapped on June 27. Boston will send rookie Brayan Bello to the mound, where he will make his Major League debut tonight.

The Rays take another win in Boston to move closer to second place in the standings.
