MLB Tonight Has Awesome Action Waiting

MLB Tonight Has Awesome Action Waiting

Tuesdays are great days for baseball and the MLB lineup for today has a lot of interesting contests. The Pittsburgh Pirates are hoping roster changes will give them an edge and the Chicago Cubs are simply hoping. The San Diego Padres are still showing good strength, while the Colorado Rockies are tumbling. There’s never a dull moment in MLB baseball and today won’t be any different.

The Pirates Meet the Brewers

The Pirates will face the Milwaukee Brewers tonight and they’re not looking very healthy. They’re sitting on a 38-61 record for the season and, with the trade deadline just three days away, it’s apparent that several players are going to make a sudden departure. The Pirates are going to try a different roster tonight because they can’t do any worse than they have been.

Brett Anderson will start for the Brewers tonight and, even though he hasn’t won in 11 starts, he has one ace up his sleeve. That last win was a seven-inning blowout of the Pirates. This, coupled with the troubles being faced by the Pirates, is enough to give Milwaukee the edge tonight, at -135 on the moneyline. The MLB Over/Under is at 9 (+100), and there’s no reason to expect a high-scoring game. The Under has gone 3-0-2 in the last five games involving the Brewers and, while the Pirates have seen more success on the Over, Pittsburgh won’t be able to come up with any big plays.

Cubs and Reds Battle

The Cubs face the Cincinnati Reds today and both have similar records. The Reds are at 51-49, with the Cubs at 50-51. This is the second game between the two and the Cubs managed to pull of a win in last night’s contest. Tonight will show if that was luck or proper planning.

According to oddsmakers, last night’s win may have been the result of proper planning. According to the Reds, it was luck. The Reds were on their way to a win before breaking down at the end of the ninth inning and allowing the Cubs to take the lead. Tonight, the Cubs are getting -175 to the Reds’ +145, but taking the underdog is likely to pay off. The Over/Under is at 10 (-110) and it’s hard to imagine, despite the 11-run game last night, that this game will go that high. Taking the Under is a better choice.

Padres Ready for the Athletics

The Padres, at 58-44, aren’t having their worst year ever, but it’s not their best, either. They lost to the Miami Marlins on Sunday and will be looking for revenge when they take on the Oakland Athletics tonight. This is the first of two games at Petco Park, and the Padres will make the most of being the home team.

The Padres are getting -160 from the books, while the Athletics are looking at +135. The A’s, at 56-45 on the season, are struggling now and the Padres will capitalize on it. The Over/Under is at 8.5 (-115) and, while there’s a chance the score will break to the Over, it isn’t a strong bet. San Diego is 7-2 on the Over in interleague play, averaging 7.6 runs per game, but putting a lot into the Over might end up in disappointment.

Rockies Take on the Angels

The Rockies are having difficulty against LA teams. They couldn’t hang against the LA Dodgers and will lost yesterday’s game against the LA Angels. They face Angels again tonight after last night’s 6-2 loss and continue to struggle. The good news for the Rockies as that Austin Gomber will be on the mound.

Gomber has won all three of his interleague starts this season, which will give Colorado more energy tonight. It may be enough, though, and the Angels are -145 on the moneyline. That should be good for a unit, as should the Over. The Over/Under is at 9 (-115) and both the Rockies and the Angels have the power to put up the points.
