It’s A Big Night For MLB, With All Teams Ready For Action

All 30 MLB teams will be in action on Wednesday, with several division races heating up in the second half of the season. Here’s a look at a few of the key matchups scheduled in tonight’s action.

Yankees Look To Take Series In Seattle

The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners play the rubber match of their three-game series tonight at T-Mobile Park. The Yankees took the first game of the series on Monday night to end a five-game losing streak and now lead the AL East standings by just 10.5 games over the Toronto Blue Jays. They are 2-7 since winning three straight against the Kansas City Royals at home.

Seattle will be looking for their second series win over New York after taking game two last night. Excellent pitching dominated the contest in a tense 13-inning showdown as Luis Torres hit a walk-off single to give the Mariners the 1-0 win. Seattle is still trying to catch the Houston Astros in the AL West and trails them by 11.5 games coming into tonight’s matchup.

Nestor Cortes is 9-3 with a team-leading 2.57 ERA for the Yankees and will take on Robbie Ray for Seattle. He’s 8-8 on the season with a 3.96 ERA.

New York takes the win as pitching dominates this matchup once again.

Toronto Hopes To Avoid Sweep in Baltimore

The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles wrap up their three-game series tonight at Camden Yards as the two teams battle for second place behind New York in the NL East. Toronto hasn’t been able to take advantage of the Yankees’ recent slump and has now lost four of their last five games. Nevertheless, they hold second place in the division, 10.5 games behind New York, with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Orioles within two games of second place.

Baltimore has been able to move closer to first place in the standings as they go for their third straight win and eighth in the last nine games. They have a chance to win their third consecutive series after sweeping the Texas Rangers on the road and taking two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates to start the current homestand.

Jose Berrios takes the mound for Toronto and is 8-4 with a 5.19 ERA. He’ll go up against Dean Kremer for the Orioles, who is 4-3 and holds a 3.43 ERA this season.

Twins Try To Keep Division Lead Against Dodgers

The Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers meet again in their series’ second and final game. After losing two straight, the Twins are now tied for first in the AL Central with the Cleveland Guardians and lead the second-place Chicago White Sox by 1.5 games. They have a 7-8 record so far in the second half of the season and must turn things around if they hope to contend for a division title.

Los Angeles hasn’t slowed down since they lost two straight to the Colorado Rockies almost six weeks ago. Since June 28, they are an incredible 31-5 and are going for their tenth straight win tonight. They have also extended their lead in the NL West standings to 16 games over the second-place San Diego Padres.

Sonny Gray will be the starter for Minnesota tonight and is 6-3 with a 3.19 ERA in 2022. Rookie Ryan Pepiot takes the mound for Los Angeles and is 1-0 with a 2.76 ERA in four starts this season.
