Nationals Look For Rare Sweep Against Dodgers

The Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers battle in the final game of their three-game series at Dodger Stadium. The Nats currently occupy last place in the NL East standings and have no hope of turning around another disastrous season. However, they have a chance to get their first series sweep of the season against the best team in the National League with a win tonight. 

Los Angeles had won eight in a row and 19 of their last 21 games before losing the first two against Washington. They are starting to run away in the NL West standings and now lead the second-place San Diego Padres by 10.5 games. They hope to bounce back in this game and show the Nationals why they are the most dominant team in the league. 

Patrick Corbin brings a 4-13 record and 6.02 ERA for Washington to the mound against Andrew Heaney, who was just activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Dodgers. He’s 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched. 

Los Angeles wins at home to end the short losing streak. 

Rangers Hope To Solve Issues Versus Mariners

The Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners continue their three-game series at T-Mobile Park, with the Mariners in position to take their second straight sweep against their AL West rivals. These two teams have met seven times in the last two weeks, with Seattle winning them all. Four of the losses for Texas in that stretch were by only one run. 

Seattle is 2-3 since their season-high 14-game winning streak and was swept by the Houston Astros at home in their last series. They are in second place in the division and trail first place by 11 games. They are also nine games ahead of the third-place Rangers. 

Jon Gray makes the start in tonight’s matchup for the Rangers and is 7-4 with a 3.48 ERA. He’ll go up against Marco Gonzalez for the Mariners, who is 5-10 with an ERA of 3.74 this season. 

The Rangers win to salvage their first victory against Seattle in the last seven games. 

Yankees and Mets Wrap Up Mini-Series

The New York Yankees and New York Mets play the final game of their two-game series tonight at Citi Field. The Yankees have struggled recently and are 5-5 in their last ten games. The Mets took the first game 6-3 last night in this battle between the top two teams in the east. The Yankees lead the Toronto Blue Jays by 11.5 games in the AL East, while the Mets are leaders of the NL East by two games over the Atlanta Braves. 

The Mets can win their third straight game tonight at home after losing to the Padres in the last series. Domingo German looked a bit shaky for the Yankees in his previous start against Houston but looks to redeem himself tonight. He gave up six hits and five runs in three innings in taking the loss. He’ll go up against Max Scherzer of the Mets, who is 6-2 with a 2.28 ERA this season.
