Woods-Mickelson 2 Could Cure Coronavirus Blues

Woods-Mickelson 2 Could Cure Coronavirus Blues

After Mickelson defeated Woods in “the match” in November of 2018, it appeared their exhibition match was going to just be a one-off with no rumors circulating that they’d be at it again – until now as we hear that Mickelson-Woods 2 might be on.

Per Jabari Young of CNBC, it looks like Phil Mickelson-Tiger Woods II is going to happen. But, there is also a twist to the rematch. It is going to be 2-on-2. To add some spice, Young mentions that it looks like two legendary quarterbacks will also join Tiger and Phil to make an all-star foursome.

Mickelson-Woods 2 Changes

Who are those QBs? Well, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are the ones believed to be the fellow partners, at a yet unnamed course or date. Both Brady and Manning are no strangers to teeing it up at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Per Young: “The person, who requested to not be identified as negotiations are still being finalized, said the event would likely happen in May and would benefit charity. Though nothing is official, the event could take place live on Turner Sports’ TNT channel or elsewhere in the WarnerMedia company, but it’s unlikely to be featured on pay-per-view.

This all seemed to stem from a tweet to Mickelson asking if there would be a chance for it to happen. To which the Lefty replied, “working on it”.

To a world deprived of sports betting right now, that reply by Mickelson almost caused a riot. Everyone from other golfers to athletes to TV stations started to talk about it, which rightfully led to oddsmakers putting out odds for the rematch.

So, what exactly are the odds if the rematch did go down?

Jeff Sherman, VP of Risk Management at the Westgate SuperBook tweeted the following today:

Last time these two greats met, the match ended up being finished under the lights with a makeshift par 3. Unfortunately for Woods, he lefty emerged victorious on the fourth playoff hole. You know Tiger will be extra motivated to not have to hear Phil talk smack like he did after his victory. Especially with some money on the line for charity and possibly the entire world tuning in since there might not be any other sporting events for the rest of 2020. Who knows, right?

For what it is worth, I’d love to see a Tiger Woods-Tom Brady pairing, just to see two of the greatest athletes of all-time team up together. Where else will we ever get to see this take place and actually be able to bet on it?

I’ll bite and lay some juice if this thing does happen. Give me Woods-Brady at -150 and Tiger to wear a red shirt at -200.
