Vik’s Picks March 2! Believe In Magic, Hawks In Monday NBA

Hope y’all had a good weekend! I’m going to write a daily piece that highlights my favorite daily picks and parlays on the sports slate for March 2.

Friday was another good day, as we finished 2-1. While every day is a new opportunity and I don’t want to get sucked into the past, I think it’s worth reviewing things each day. This will help us get better as we move forward. So, here goes:

I bet:

– Kings +4 (won) – They won straight up!

– Clippers -6.5 (won) – As predicted, blowout city!

– Davidson +11 (loss) – Davidson just could not hang with Dayton’s firepower. This one was not close.

Now, onto today’s card. We have some great college basketball matchups and a seven-game NBA card.

We did the research for you so, so here are our three favorite bets for today:

Vik’s Picks March 2

Blazers at Magic -6

Dollar Dame is still out tonight for the Blazers. As expected with a player as good as him being out, the Blazers are only 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS without him.

The Magic’s defense is solid and they usually do well against bad teams. The Blazers have also been bad on the road and this is their third road game in a row. I’m sure they are ready to pack it up and go home, which helps with a spread this big. If Orlando has a double-digit lead in the fourth, this one should be a wrap.

The public likes the Blazers tonight at 60% clip. But the sharps seem to be on the opposite side, as this spread is climbing in some books indicating reverse line movement on the Magic. I would not be surprised to see this hit Magic 6.5/7 across all books.

Grizzlies at Hawks -2

Love the Hawks in this spot tonight. Since Jaren Jackson, Jr. went down for Memphis, they have been in a free fall. They don’t shoot or hit as many 3’s without him. On top of that, the Grizzlies depth is being tested with the JJJ and Brandon Clarke injuries. It is basically Ja Morant vs. the world. Without JJJ and Clarke, the Grizzlies are averaging just 104 points over those five games. They just don’t have enough firepower to keep up tonight against a Hawks team that doesn’t play defense, but can light up the scoreboard.

Memphis has also been bad on the road this season, going only 12-17 away from home. On the flip side, the Hawks have been playing better as of late, winners of two straight. A lot of that has to do with Trae Young, as he is putting on a show, but also because they are finally all heathy.

Some sharp money has also come in on Atlanta, pushing this line from Hawks -1.5 to -2 currently.

Texas Tech +7.5 at Baylor

I like TT in this spot because they are desperate for a win after losing two straight games. And even though their offense struggles at times, I love their defense. D is what transfers game to game, no matter what.

When looking at the Ken Pom metrics, Baylor is 9th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. Baylor’s defense is even better, coming in 4th. One key thing to watch tonight is Baylor gets blocked a lot and on the other side, TT gets blocks at a high rate. Because of this Tech should be able to really make it tough for Baylor to score tonight. In a game like that, I see it playing out like a grinder coming down to the last few minutes, so I’ll gladly take 7.5 in this match up.

TT also knows this Baylor defense well and I trust coach Chris Beard to come up with a good game plan for tonight. The key in this game will come down to if TT can hit 3’s.

The public is on Baylor, which makes me feel a little better about this NCAAB pick as well. In big matchups and tv spots, I like to fade the public a little bit more.

Well, that is all folks for our picks for March 2. Good luck on today’s wagers!
