Matt DeSaro’s NFL Draft Picks And Parlays

Matt DeSaro’s NFL Draft Picks And Parlays

The 2020 NFL Draft takes place tonight and has become a popular topic of discussion in the betting world now that there is nothing else to bet on. So, let’s take a look at some NFL picks & parlays as we near showtime.

Let’s just dive right in and take a look at what we can expect Friday night.

Who Takes Tua (and when)?

There is little question as to who gets the nod at number one this year.  LSU standout quarterback Joe Burrow is currently 10/1 to be selected first, a pick presently owned by the Cincinnati Bengals.  Coming off a Heisman Trophy win, the 23-year-old has all the tools needed to become a true franchise quarterback.

The second pick in the draft is also a near-lock to be Chase Young. Ohio State’s star defensive end is a perfect fit for this team and will be an immediate impact player in the NFL.

Luckily things get a little more interesting after that.

The next big name on the board, in my opinion, has seen his stock rise and fall quite a lot over the last 4 months or so. That name is Tua Tagovailoa, the former Alabama QB, who was forced to cut his 2019 season short after a pretty severe hip injury.  There are odds for him to be the second QB off the board at -160, which I think is likely despite concerns about his long-term health.  It was reported that he passed a physical with the Dolphins, and with the 5th pick, they are a legit landing spot for Tua.  At odds that currently sit at +150, I think this could be one of the more profitable plus money bets in the early going. A team may trade up with the Lions to scoop Tua up with the #3 pick, but I think this is a less likely scenario.  Combined with his odds at -260 to be picked within the first 5.5 picks, and you have a nice little parlay ticket on your hands.

Zooming In On Best Prop Bets

The nature of this year’s draft makes for a ton of exotic props based around the draftees being at home on webcam.  O/U props on how many people will be in the most crowded room, how many players will be wearing a tie, or how many total players we will see on camera the first day.  The two of these I like the best are pet props.  O/U 1 cat and 3.5 dogs are the lines with both at -150.  I feel like athletes really like to have pets, especially dogs.  And many have multiple dogs who will want to be gathered in with everyone else in the house.  I think we see a ton of dogs in this draft, and I’m willing to be at least one rogue cat.

The final prop I like is what positon this year’s Mr. Irrelevent specializes in.  For those unaware, the tag of Mr. Irrelevant is given to the player drafted dead last.  This year, the odds for it to be a wide receiver or tight end are 4/1, and considering the historical trends, this might be one of the better picks on the board.  5 of the last 7 and 6 of the previous 10 years, the final pick was a receiver or tight end, and I think the Giants make it another year with their 255th pick in this weekend’s NFL Draft.
